I though i should start posting some of the sketches I did in Philadelphia over winter break. Overall i did 30 sketches in one week while i was up there . I am really bad about scanning drawings from my small moleskine sketchbook. Here are two of my favorite sketches from my vacation. The top one is from a pizzeria in Chestnut hill looking at a church and the other I sat outside on Christmas morning and drew the Gravers Lane station. Gravers lane has to be one of my favorite train stations it was designed by Frank Furness one of my favorite victorian era achictects.

Last weekend i was able to get out to carrboro so I could draw the Greenbridge Condos. They are really coming along, the glass and the brick skin are almost complete . The inside is coming along on Monday I saw then bringing up air shafts to install. The scanner really whited out the side of the building . I can't wait to see what the stores at ground level will be , I am curious though who the tenants of the retail space will be.

Some recent drawings of the new Greenbridge condos in Carrboro. The top sketch was done today while waiting to get pizza at the Franklin street pizzeria. The bottom sketch was done yesterday while at Milltown for lunch . Although there is a lot of criticism towards the New Greeenbridge condos I am Really pleased with what they will offer Chapel Hill and Carrboro . I am very excited i really hope these condos will help make the downtown the center of activity for a town rather than malls . This will give Carrboro and even more European feel even though it is already called the Paris of the Piedmont, because residents of the new condos will be able to walk from there condo to dine, shop and enjoy the downtown . Another exiting fact about these condos is the fact that they will be very Eco friendly .

I visited Graham N.C. the downtown has to be one of the most architecturally interesting down towns in North Carolina I love the square with the courthouse in the middle and all the buildings surrounding it . There are many beautiful Cast-iron architecture style buildings. One of my favorite buildings which i was unable to draw was the old drug store hopefully the have plans to restore the building and the old pharmacy. The one thing that disappointed me was that some of the building had a metal facade over them hopefully the town has plans to remove them. I was messing around with my scanner settings because i felt that there was always too much of a glare so i tried to darken it its a little over darkened but its better than the glare.

Sketch done from Cup a Joe looking over to Dual hardware supplies W. King St.
This a sketch looking out form the window of the exam room at the doctors office in chapel hill. It was taking so long for the doctor to arrive that i deiced to pull out my sketchbook and started sketching the construction sight across the street.

Some sketches from Carolina beach sorry these are like a week late but like i said before earlier my main computer was down so i was not able to scan and post them. I was staying in the Marriott inn on Carolina beach the top 2 and bottom 2 are of the boardwalk which is a great place to cool off and get a slushy or play 1980s arcade games it use to be pretty rundown but it looks a little better now.The middle one is of a crane near the marina at Carolina beach.
